Identify My Classic Pantha Stud Bmx

Postby Luke__ on Tue 8/May/12 6:28pm

Hi guys,

Any old school BMX gurus out there that can shed some light on this old Pantha Stud I acquired recently?

My guess is mid-late 80s by the radical paint job. I know manufacturing went offshore at some stage but I think this is a NZ-made one.

I've had a few classic Redlines and Healings but this is only the second Pantha I've had, and I've never seen this colour combo before.

I'm trying to decide if a restore is in order, as it is reasonably tidy.

I got a Pantha Assasin (26" 3speed IGH) for my 12th [?] birthday, which would indicate a '91 or '92 model... same decal colours round the name, head badge etc.. black not blue, but otherwise very similar looking.

Mint sauce!

I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that Pantha was gone by the nineties.

Vintage bmx is gaining a bit of momentum in New Zealand, especially in the North Island.

Hi Luke,

Do you still have the Pantha BMX? I am wanting to obtain some good images of the decals as I am about to restore one of the same vintage.

Cheers

Try sending a PM - given that the original post is quite a long time ago chances are the OP won’t be watching vorb anymore. At least with a PM he may get an email notification.

Good luck
