Just welding the crack...doesn't last...same stress on same place (the reason it broke initially)...put a wedge in to REINFORCE the weak part...2000km later still good...(7000 series alu).
Paintstrip frame...dont notice welds.

I'm pretty sure that is so you don't lose the bit of tube, clamp and seat when it falls off again. They will be conveniently clanking along beside you, held on by the 'Flexi-link' (TM).

..until you've seen the weld I did on my mates Falcon 500 exhaust manifold. I didn't see it either; couldn't find the arc welding mask so just closed my eyes and listened for the right buzzing sounds. That puppy was good.

How come we haven't had a MTB geek ID the bike and tubing variety from the first photo?
Do MTBers suffer from a deficiency of geekfulness, or is it to do with the bike being aluminium?

I don't give a stuff what type of aluminium it is or if it's been heat-treated or not, I just think it's a nasty disaster waiting to happen and that it was my duty to say so.
