How Do I Remove Silly Substitute Swear Words

Postby Roma on Mon 20/Oct/08 10:01pm

I have 'censoring swear words' set to 'no censoring', yet (for eg) c u n t still displays as cunzor which is a highly irritating substitute. It displays as c u n t only when replying and scrolling through existing posts in the topic review.

Can I make it stop mincing words?

Easy.

Don't write the C word.

Use terms like "Felcher", "Parking warden" and "Tives" instead. :)

That would only work if everyone was as creative with their vocabulary!

I've never seen the point in substitutes like 'fudge' or f*&k et etc.. it's not like anyone is not going to understand or know what the masked expletive or context of it is anyway.

:pmob: Geez - what a whining cunzor :eh:

Basically I had lots of complaints from users. Mainly from the woman folk(who make up 40% of the Vorbii) who felt uncomfortable with the amount the C word was getting used on Vorb. Mostly by try hard little toss pots trying to act hard.

So in an effort to keep Vorb friendly I added a bit of code that automatically changes it to a humorous derivative. Big deal. If you really feel strongly about reading the word on Vorb you could make some stickers up with a ballpoint pen and adhere them to your screen.

I'm sure the code could be tailored.

if vorb.username = "Roma"
then c.word = "Roma"
else c.word = "cunzor".
end

:D

Buy the domain cunzor.co.nz

Set it up to proxy the content of vorb.org.nz and do the coding to re substitute the word c unt for cunzor.

Sit back with a smug sense of self satisfaction at a pointless geeking job well done.
