4 Hours to go...

The weather is looking like there might be an unpleasant surprise in store. Jason has extended his lead to 12 minutes.

The rules of the race are that you must finish a lap after 23 hours to get a valid result, and that your last lap must finish before 25 hours.

A couple of new photos in the album.

Both Tony and Thomas have had problems in the night. Tony pulling out after 14 laps and Thomas after 15. Back problems for Tony and stomach/digestive system for Thomas. Shame as they were both leading their classes at the time. :(

As one of Thomas' sponsors I gutted (for him) that he didn't finish, but I'm also incredibly proud of how well he rode. To race at that pace on that course is a huge achievement, in their respective classes all the New Zealand competitors really put the hurt on their competition. It's a brutal form of racing and sometimes when you go as hard as Thomas and Tony did your body simply won't let you go on. Maybe they didn't get the results they wanted by they're both heros in my book. Well done!

Tony and Thomas were awesome to watch, putting on such a hot pace and never looked like slowing down. Such a shame thier races ended they way they did.
But those guys are absolute machines. World class.
Also ( but in no way near the same level in comparison) Andrew Dineen, Chris Whiting and myself, 10th in miexed team. Not bad for hideously inappropraite bikes! ( all of ours being 6 inch or more travel!!)

Massive congrats to all the Kiwi solos taking part.
