Hanmer Weather And Track Conditions

Postby Jemetch on Fri 5/Nov/10 7:25pm

Given the amount of rain that has fallen on the Port Hills today, I’m thinking prospects for getting out and about for a decent ride tomorrow are not looking good. I’m therefore wondering about heading up to Hanmer tomorrow for a sneaky roll around the Spring Crusher course.

I’m pretty unfamiliar with the Hanmer trails, and despite a bit of internet sleuthery can’t seem to find anything which tells me how much rain is falling up there, and what it might all mean for the suitability of the tracks for riding tomorrow. Anyone have some local info?

Jemetch, to get a good answer from a local you could just phone Graham Frith (Spring Crusher etc organiser) on 03 3155009

I'm in Hanmer and plan on riding the crusher course
In the morning and will probably end up at the molesworth muster finish line. If you want an escort around happy to meet up in the morning.

Went out tonight for a ride in the rain, it's pretty wet but I'm keen to put in a final lap before next week.

I'm not a local but have a fairly good idea of the course.

not to be all curmudgeonly an all but .... is it a good thing to go to somewhere and ride the tracks whilst it's raining :( ??
Perhaps someone from Hanmer club could clarify if their tracks cope well with being ridden whilst wet :) ??

I had already consulted with one of the track builders.
