Half Day Mtbing In Chch - C.a.p. Or Other?

Postby mfw on Thu 29th Mar 7:35am

Haven't ridden in Chch for 7 years, coming down tomorrow, will probably get a half day slot over the weekend, recommend me some riding!
Favourite tracks used to be Flying Nun, Vic park Dazzas/Shazzas etc, Greenwood park, Anaconda etc
Was thinking of a 3 lift pass at CAP. Also sounds like there has been a lot of development gone in at Halswell so maybe could start there go up Crocodile, down Flying Nun, then hit the park?

Lots of riding to be done at Halswell. You could spend a couple of hours going up and down and round and round.

Kennedy's Bush track is reopening on Easter Sunday so you'll have to wait til then before you do a Crocodile/Kennedys/Flying Nun loop.

A potential loop could be up Rapaki, 'round Montgomery Spur (off to the left just before you get to the cattle yards on Rapaki), Mt Vernon if you're feeling fit, Traverse, down Gums then across the road into the Park and down Loess Rider. Catch the chair back up and go down Lord of the Possum then into Handle the Jandal. Chair up again (after having stopped for a coffee) for another loop of either the bottom half of the Nun+ChoirBoy(AKA Old Dyers)+Loess Rider OR Possums+Jandal. Third time up the lift then head across to Vic Park and down Fenceline/Bridges (I say Fenceline cos I'm really not liking Dazzas/Shazzas at the moment).

Thanks scatter, looks like a good plan, getting excited now!

I guess the park, and most of Chch will be empty, given that most of you are going to Ed Sheeran apparently?

LOL. Probably.

Make sure you check what time the chair and trails open before you head out. I think on weekends it's 10am now

Great ride on Saturday thanks, followed most of the above. Both fun riding and a real trip down memory lane :) Got a lot more flow on in later laps - which wouldn't normally happen - the beauty of a lift session eh! https://www.strava.com/activities/14809 ... 1522486500

Zoom out of the segment and you'll see that it's a section of Possums.
