Modern 4WD, didn't hear a thing. I don't tend to hear much over wind and track noise when I'm descending anyhow.

That is the one redeeming feature of the pesky MotoX bikes up there, you can hear them coming from a mile away....

Haven't thought about insurance yet ( Have yet to get the bike back), unless the frame or forks are broken it's probably not going to be worth a claim.

Once had a similar incident only other way roun.
we were on a well used one lane gravel rd in Central (Surf no bull bars) going uphill at maybe 30k/h young kid on motor bike comes hurtling round corner, i could see his life flash before him in his eys just before he lays the bike down and slides under the front.
He was OK his bike was a bit bent, my surf was ok.
his mate behind had seen me and slowed then his Dad turns up (on bike) and starts giving me shit for driving in middle of Rd!
As everyone was ok and his dad was getting a bit aresy we decided it was time to go.

not realy sure where we/he would have stood if there were injuries as it was a paper rd and his bike didnt look like it would have had rego or wof

Ouch.

What is it with that firebreak? If it's not murderers armed and on the run from the cops it's 4WDs set to stealth mode. (I've heard tell of a wild Welshman driving a bongovan full of rabid hounds up there too, but I think that's just an urban legend. :P )

Heal up quick Dave.

Woah epic crash!
Did you look up in time to think "ah shit" just before you hit it?
I remember thinking that while doing what seemed like an incredibly long endo on my dj bike after inadvertantly hitting a traffic island.
And I think that sort of muntage is a great excuse for a new bike!
