General banter away.

Who racing?
What bike?
Anyone mad enough to do this and the kiwibrevet a month later?
Hardness vs the kiwi brevet?
Kit tips?

You dont need to tell your stats
Follow the ladiez on the downhills and give them riding tips
Say you are there in a support role for somebody else and you probably dont even need to enter

I'm on holidae for this, so might use it as some practice for the Kiwi Brevet. Would be a awesome way to spend a couple of weeks down south I reckon.

My participation would of course depend on planets aligning etc...

I'll be on my Singular Gryphon, but instead of SS be 1x10 cos I'm soft.

Nice one! After a wee chat with Simon on Saturday arvo, I'm expecting to line up at the Kiwi Brevet again... I wonder what could have piqued my interest... :ib:

Would love to do some riding in the far south at some point, but have likely planetary alignment issues!

Try getting in touch with the man in charge - have a look on the blog for more details about the ride itself. From what I can find, you could try emailing greatsouthernbrevet [at] gmail [dot] com

Well if it is running again I can totally recommend it, the best event I've ever done. To me the course is better than the much publicised Kiwi Brevet - more off-road, actual MTBing, less road riding. Probably a bit tougher but the shape of the course meant there were lots of oppurtunities to take shortcuts and miss out tough sections if you weren't up to it. Awesome part of the country too, links up a bunch of old school mtb rides that I'd wanted to do for ages but never got around to because of the logistics involved.
In other words, DO IT.

Although i suspect it may only be held every second year.

looks like it's on again, just got this

Will be updating the website and publishing the Google map of the course in the next few months as land permissions are gained. It is the best place to check out every now and then for updates.

Cheers,

Hmm, GSB at the end of Jan or KB at the beginning of Feb, decisions decisions...

Which one are you doing Sifter?, you should be nicely recovered from the Tour de Fance by then :ib:

And what about Ollie 'mountainpedalernz' Whalley, the South Island must be calling after a mountain-less year in the the big red?
