La Grande Tour De France Du Concours: 5e édition

Postby Tugboat on Thu 21/Jun/12 8:38pm

Ladies and gentlemen get ready for the big show of 2012. The greatest show on no wheels...

It's easy to play. Pick a team of any nine riders to score you points over each stage of the Tour de France. To do well, it will help if you pick nine riders who are actually riding the Tour.

The good folks at roadcycling.co.nz are posting team rosters over here.

There's no A and B rider limitations this year because I believe a new bonus points system will mean that GC riders will be far less favoured. See below for details. There's some major opportunities for breakaway riders to rack up big points, especially on the big mountain stages. For example the stage 16 monster to Bagnères-de-Luchon has 700 points on offer before we even get to the finish line. :crazy:

Hopefully these changes make the team selections a lot more interesting and the game more dynamic!!

SCORING

Each rider will score points based on their finishing positions on each stage from 200 for first to 3 for 198th. The top 3 placings will also score bonus points (50, 25, 10).

example.
1st = 250 (200 + 50)
2nd = 224 (199 + 25)
3rd = 208 (198 +10)
4th = 197
5th = 196
...and so on

The first rider over the line on all intermediate sprints and KOM climbs will also score bonus points.

Intermediate sprint = 100
Cat 4 = 10
Cat 3 = 25
Cat 2 = 50
Cat 1 = 100
HC = 200

Daily stage challenge:
Each day pick the day's stage winner to earn more valuable bonus points if that rider places in the top 3.

1st = 200
2nd = 100
3rd = 50

At the end of the day the winner will be the Vorber whose team has amassed the greatest number of points.

ROLL OF HONOUR

2008 - Friendly Llama
2009 - WazzaM
2010 - Trail
2011 - Bianchibitch

To enter post your team of nine to this thread before 9pm next Saturday, 30 June (late entries at my discretion). Stage picks must be made by midnight each day of the race.

Good luck and may the best man / maness win!

Very cool, thanks in advance Tugboat.

Sylvain Chavanel and Jerome Pineau should be good bets if the past few years/current form is anything to go by.

Nice... I like your style of confidently defending your title like a boss! :cool:

I think I'll take the wait and see, over analyse and then crash and burn technique that worked so well last year.

Armstrong is retired/suspended pending a USADA investigation and Contador is serving a suspension until just before the Vuelta. I thought that was common knowledge.
