To be honest, I would pick the Greens or Labour as the most threatening to the sport. With they way they like to control things I could see cycling being baned unless it was for commuting purposes as it is just too dangerous as a recreational pursuit.

What's Labour done? Check out:
http://www.transport.govt.nz/getting-there-index/
or Google ' Getting There - on foot, by cycle '

Next question:
What's National done for cycling in the past?
Hmmm...

What are National planning for cycling in the future?
Hmmm...

Why care, unless they are going to flat out ban it? Because labour are set to send some descent funding cycling's way - funding that will fund descent cycle lanes (including part funding for cycle lanes & paths that local councils want to build). If they end up in a coalition with the Greens, you can almost gaurantee this will happen. A National/Act government is likely to see this as a prime area to cut costs.
A Labour/Green coalition is also likely to result in improvements to public transport, which tends to result in less cars on the road = more space for cyclists.

"CAN should shut up"?!?! Are you crazy? There will always be more important issues than cycling, but that doesn't mean that cycling isn't an important issue. Cycling has so much to offer, especially as a mode of transport during economic hard times.

Funny, I had this exact thought earlier today...not sure how exactly it fits with some of the party members though now that I attempt to think about it...

(Slightly off topic, sorry if it doesn't make sense) I think the best thing that could happen for cycling is for people to realise that cyclists are people too-until this happens, improved facilities (such as cycle lanes) are at best, a band-aid.

I can't see how a National govt would 'threaten' cycling, they are just more likely to not improve things for cyclists during their term.
Which would likely only be three years anyway.

Labour actually has members in Parliament that ride on occasion.

From the local govt. cycling things I have done in the past when working in transport infrastructure, it was always far easier dealing with people that rode a bike on occasion. You didn't get stuck with the whole 'why should we care about bikes' question that anyone else with any say in the process would be thinking.

Trevor Mallard? (didn't he win a coffee machine at Colville a few years ago, but he wasn't there to get it?) I was also thinking Nandor Tanczos and his skateboard...

Nandor and CAN have a few things in common.

...but before I go spreading uninformed rumours on that front, maybe someone from there can answer a straight question.

WHAT IS CAN'S STANCE ON THE WEARING OF CYCLE HELMETS?

Road cycling is the new golf, I'd imagine more national voters ride than labour voters these days :sly:

But Aunty Helen is doing a great job of making there be less incentive to work hard in life

John Key has just announced a new benefit for the middle class.

Something is wrong with the world when National continue to offer election bribes after Labour has taken the fiscal responsible road.

I actually thought it was a pretty accurate and clever peice of satire. Mr Serious.

Certainly a lot funnier than PMing the population of Vorb pics of bottles up their bottoms. ;)

I imagine that would depend on entirely:

A: Whom was the person getting "invaded"
B: What type of bottle
