The dux is the most overrated restaurant/bar ever

What would be the best restaurant and bar?

Favoured by expats who left for their OE circa 1985, then come back to visit briefly. You mean, there are other al fresco dining options now? I don't believe you!

Bicycle thief is very good, as is Indochine. Volcano in Lyttleton is well worth a look for moderately priced and hearty. Saggio Di Vino does great food and has an excellent wine selection but is expensive.

We have heard alot of people raving about joes garage, mainly a brekkie / lunch thing but could be worth a look http://www.joes.co.nz/

Speights ale houses, like anything - were better before the masses took to them like a new watering hole in the serengeti, the drunken steak is more like "the shadow of the former drunken steak"

Found two fat indians to be nice, and copper chime was ok - wouldnt write to calcutta about it but then im not a huge indian fan - found little india to be more my cup of dilmah

Dux, well I eat meat - they don't
