Global Bike To Work Day: May 11th

Global Bike to Work Day
Make your commute count on May 11th.

https://www.strava.com/challenges/bike-to-work-2017

On May 11th, we’re challenging every Strava athlete to make the world just a little bit better by riding to work. Join the challenge, upload an activity from point A to point B on the big day and that’s it – you’ve done your part.

79,879 Strava cyclists from 180 countries joined us on Global Bike to Work Day last year. They offset 514 tons of greenhouse emissions and contributed millions of data points to the Strava Metro data set. Let’s crush those numbers in 2017!

I just like to believe that local governments do look at the data collected by Strava during bike to work day and gain a better understanding how cyclists use their towns and cities, so that they can better plan their cycling infrastructure.

Taking part in the Strava challenge is my way of casting my vote to say, "These are the roads I want you to improve"

Challenge completed - That was one of the easier Strava challenges ever.

And even when New Zealand is one of the first countries to cross the midnight border. my 9K effort has only ranked me 153rd ... correction 189th ... 193rd :(

Think yourself lucky, my 15.5k effort ranked me 23,753rd ... correction 33,360th

I can't say I noticed more than a slight increase in cyclists on the road but I was pleased to see 5 separate pop-up booths offering free tune-ups, coffee, water & pastries.

Oddly enough, I rode home too. Like every day.

That explains why it took you nearly 40 minutes to cycle 15k ;)
