I'm kinda going to go against the grain here...I don't think its such a great idea...seems "very american" ..if you want smaltz watch "Extreme Makeover-home edition"...and this seems to be on a par..

I appreciate that its hard to come to terms with a friend/buddy/someone you know getting killed on their bike...but a memorial of "Ghost Bikes" to me seems a bit tacky..surely the victim is much more than a just a bike rider.

As you have already discovered, its also open to vandalism, which is disgraceful, but there you go.

Personally if I get wiped out...just burn me up, get me a bit of stone, tell some stories and have a few beers.

sorry! but that's my view on the subject.

This may sound a bit lame but instead of the little crosses, little white bikes could be used instead. It might make people stop (cause it will be an oddity) and read what is written on it.

thats fair coment, but the bikes are also acting as a reminder to drivers that there are cyclists on these roads too,and to be more cousious of us,and road rules apply to all
