Getting My Hands On A (ibis) Tranny!

Postby Oli on Thu 2/Apr/09 10:52am

Apparently I'm the first guy in New Zealand lucky enough to get my hands on the new Ibis Tranny carbon hardtail. I built this up for my man Tim Wilding over the last couple of days as his weapon for his attempt to recapture the title of NZ Xterra Champion which he held in 2007. Built up with XTR, Rotor, Fox and Easton components, along with some Stans ZTR Olympic/XTR/DT Revolution wheels I have built him it comes in at 22.2lb/10.07kg. Hot with a capital OUCH!

Cheers heaps to Mike Stylianou =} Hyperformance Hardware for the help, and Tim's sponsors Santa Cruz/Ibis Bicycles, Pearl Izumi, Roadworks and Maxxis Tyres.

I think everyone maybe still oogling at the bike, thus no comments.
Or maybe they made a mess on their keyboards and are still cleaning it up.
I'd go with the 2nd option.

Sweet colour, hopefully it doesn't creek and squeek like his Mojo did every time it went past me at N-duro 24, (although at least I knew he was comin and could prepare to be passed at warp factor 9)

I hope you mounted her high on your work stand so you didn't have to bend over too much.

It strikes me that it's sitting at the more 'trail' end of a XC race ride.
Not scarily light, but I'm picking ridability is high... if ridability is actually a word that is.

Bob: who cares? :eh:

PBR: That was his knees. ;)

Thing 1 and XCrazy: Could be lighter perhaps, but it's a Large and has had little real attempt to make it super-light. Plus it's not fragile.

Connors and Robbie: Men of rare distinction.

James: I probed it all over with my fingers, and jammed lube in every orifice.

Stun: Bang on, as usual. :o
