The 2nd Annual Southern GT Demo bike Tour is happening over the first 2 weeks in December... Come and try out an 09 GT Bicycle on some real trails before you commit your hard earned $$!!! Don't be happy with a quick lap around a carpark, these bikes are made for dirt!

Dec 1st: Timaru (Centennial Park)
Dec 2nd: Dunedin (Forrester Park/Bethunes)
Dec 3rd: Invercargill (Bluff Hill)
Dec 4th: Queenstown (7 Mile Trails)
Dec 5th: Alexandra (Rail-trail carpark below the Clock)

Dec 9th: Christchurch (Victoria Park, from Skidder site) - cancelled due to weather
Dec 10th: Christchurch (Victoria Park - note change of venue)

Steeds attending the tour- Force, Sanction, Marathon, Ruckus and more

Beginning around 4pm on each day, who knows when the fun will end...

Local GT dealer staff will be in attendance to help out.... You never know, we might even rattle out the BBQ and refreshments!

It may happen... I don't get up there but Alex the Wombat might get round to showing up there with a bunch of bikes either side of Xmas... Watch this space I guess.

What about Westport or somewhere else on the West Coast.
A demo on all the new Denniston Plateau tracks would be great

Quick Update: Hanmer Hammerhead attendance not looking likely unfortunately. The event is sponsored by the Bike Shack, they are no longer a GT Bike Dealer and have made some other arrangements for demo bikes... Sorry, I tired

LukeNukem I tried PMing you but I think didn't seem to work.

You are never going to get the numbers in Westport like the big cities. But the numbers you will get will more likely to be buyers of performance bikes. With the mining boom on the West Coast at the moment there are plently of people with good amounts of disposal income who are into the outdoors including mountain biking. With no shops in the area with performance bikes we have to travel 8 hours (return trip) to Christchurch to view any performance bikes (there are probably some in Tony's shop in Greymouth, but not in Westport at the moment). In fact just last week 2 locals went to Christchurch just to buy bikes for themselves as well as another for a local who needed a new bike.

Having a demo day up at the new Denniston Plateau mountian bike tracks would make the newspapers on the coast (I can arrange that and a blurb on the local radio). Actually the local newspaper reporter is keen to do a story on the tracks we have made but she has just not made the time to get up there yet (it would be a good excuse for her to do that).
Having a demo day at the Denniston Tracks would be great promotion for tracks at Denniston (as well as GT bikes).

Riders from the Westland Moutnain bike Club in Greymouth/Hokitika will for sure turn up in numbers (they have 60 paid members) as they loved the tracks when they had a club trip there a few months ago.

Also a Demo day at Denniston would be the excuse for all those Christchurch riders to make the weekend trip over to Westport to try out the tracks. The ones who have so far have left with big smiles on their faces.

I guess Inzane (oops I mean Trail Sly ) is right I could trash a few bikes. I just broke the shock mount on my NRS1 last night which makes the frame buggered so I am need of a new bike. But being a XC rider I normally just wear out bikes rather than trash them on big drops.

Like Trail I have changed my username from 'Tim2' to something more me 'Sickman'

Hi Sickman/Tim,
got your pm just now ta. sorry don't spend too much time on this site so not really clued up with all that...
I hear what your saying... Westport is a long way away from larger bike stores with a wide range of product on display (although to their credit both Tracey at Mann's in Greymouth and Tony at Colls do a good job with what they have)...

I'd be intersted in making the trip if you reckon you can stimulate things a little from your end and get some keen people along who want to test ride a new season GT bike with a view to buying one sometime soon... & it sounds from your post like you're prepared to do this.

Got a date in mind? How about Sat 13th December?
