Our supporters have increased from 5000 to 8000! We are making progress!

After a very successful Getacross presentation in Wellington the Transit Board requested that the Getacross team be involved in their investigation into the walkway and cycle way being included in the Clip-ons strengthening project due to begin soon.

We are now discussing

. Possible options for the configuration of the lanes are being produced.
. Likely funding sources.

BUT, it is still 'a proposal under discussion' and numbers count.
. Transit must take notice of significant community support
. 10,000 is a significant number -it is the number required for a petition to parliament

We still need you for one last push! 2000 more supporters will add up to 10,000

You can help us by ensuring your contacts who support sustainable transport options for Auckland know they can register support at www.getacross.org.nz .

Would you like to walk & cycle over the Auckland harbour Bridge??? Please vote "yes" on www.getacross.org.nz for a healthy transport choice.

If you want to be kept up to date please tell me andysmith[at]clear.net.nz

WE NEED YOU TO REGISTER YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE WALKWAY AND CYLEWAY ACROSS THE HARBOUR BRIDGE TODAY!

Auckland City and North Shore City may withdraw their support for the project.

The Herald asks for your view on Is it worth putting a cycleway on the Harbour Bridge?

Richard AKL (Auckland) I think pedestrian and cycle access to the North Shore is a bad idea. Do we really want to allow people who can't afford to drive a car, catch a taxi or use a ferry to come to our safe North Shore neighbourhoods? I'm not saying that those who can't afford it are necessarily criminals, but it would open the North Shore up to all sorts of undesirables.

Richard obviously hasnt been to Glenfield. Sly
