Hi guys and girls,

You may be aware that North Shore City Council has designated Sanders Reserve at Paremoremo as a mountain bike reserve. This will be the first designated mountain bike specific reserve on the North Shore, and is aimed at "recreational off road cycling" ie: no structures like Woodhill, and aimed at families. Sadie Parker-Wynyard is a couple of days away from finishing marking out trails before they move onto the next stage.

The locals who walk their dogs in the park are putting in a late fight to have the park used for dog walking. A community board meeting is happening next Thursday at 7:30pm at Albany Stadium in a lounge.

Sadie cant be seen to be rallying the troops but the Auckland Mountain Bike Club believe we need to have representation at this meeting with somebody (our newly elected Presidemt Marke Jennings-Temple is doing the presentation) prepared to talk on behalf of the club and to have as many mountainbikers there as possible to show how much support the park will have. There are several committee mebers going as we believe that the dog walkers wil be there in numbers, and MOUNTAINBIKERS need to be there to show there support to council.

Sadie will ask local schools to send a representative for their mountainbike teams such as Westlake Boys, Kristin, Rangitoto and Long Bay College.

Venue is confirmed as a lounge in Albany Stadium, Stadium Drive...off Apian Way, Albany, Thursday the 19th June at 7.30pm.

If we want the North Shore City Council (who are really suportive of mountainbiking) to take us seriously, we need the numbers here on Thursday to show we are as important as dog walkers.....

i cant see how north shore city council are suportive of mountain biking, i have been trying for 5 years to get somewhere and got nothing.
and i think its a waste of time building out there as it is still a drive for most people on the shore to get there and most people dont want family orientated tracks, familys go to wood hill cause sand is soft like most kids are.
