 |
|
I'm sick an tired of these health "professionals" thinking that they can hold the country to ransom every year. Th junior doctors need to grow up an realise that they aren't so special: everyone wishes they were paid more. The only thing that places the doctors in a special position is their ability to scam us because they have the bargaining chip of our health to play, and also that we have this misguided image of doctors as being trustworthy figures.
I'm also sick of their whining about how tough it is having such high levels of student loans, and such poor working conditions. Are junior doctors that stupid that they don't realise what they are getting themselves into when they start along the career path at university? Suck it up you bunch of princesses. In my opinion we should fire the lot of them and replace them with Pakistanis.
Your thoughts please.

i know a junior doctor who gets about $75hour.
I'd be complaining too. How can one survive on such meagre earnings?

after 6 years training, $100k+ in debt, 65hr+ working weeks as standard, 12 days weeks as standard, and my 'customers' get FREE treatment, I think they deserve more, and while we're running a massive surplus, why not pay those who keep us alive what they actually deserve. Juniour docs are mostly on <$100k per year and work one of the parcpiest jobs and parcpiest hours and have our lives in their hands on a daily basis. Yes, they deserve more. No, they shouldn't be on strike.

And because they work 18 hour days, they should be able to pay off their student loans super quick, cos they don't have time to spend it

I'd be severely maimed anyway, when I think of all the broken bones and surgery I've required. |
That just shows they have an awesome scam going on. I say we hire in some Pakistanis and fire their asses. |
Can you explain this "scam" to me? I don't get it (caffeine hasn't kicked in yet)

I don't see the problem with that, the country is overpopulated already

Perhaps if the government gave their lolly-scramble "Working for Families" money to the doctors, they'd stick around a bit longer.

One of my boys had his tonsils and adenoids out last year in Wellington hospital. The pre-surgery evaluation recommended that he eat toast afterwards to help the healing process. Fine we thought, the after-care will sort that out. Wrong. After surgery we were pretty much left on our own. WE had to sort out his after-care toast and even then the kids ward had exhausted it daily supply of bread (due to all the gnikcuf parents eating it) so I had to go along to the shop and buy something for my son to eat.

Who said anything about low income? The threshold is very high. We have friends who earn 70K+ and THEY get the benefit. They also spend it on things like plasma TVs and cars.
