The current management committee of the New Plymouth Mountain Bikers would like to make the club into an incorporated society.

The reasons for this are:
1. More able to obtain funds from charitable trusts etc for improving MTB infrastructure in Taranaki.
2. Able to have a formal agreement with New Plymouth District Council re the management of Mangamahoe Forest recreational area that they own and we ride on.
3. Able to employ contractors more easily to undertake track building and maintenance work with funds raised.
4. Members will not be personally liable for the debts, contracts or other obligations of the society.
5. The society will continue as a separate legal entity even though it’s membership changes.
6. The society can lease, rent, buy or sell property under the society’s own name.
7. No member of the society can have personal rights or interest in any of the assets of the society.

To become an incorporated society, a constitution has to be developed, approved by at least 15 club members and then approved by the Ministry of Economic Development and IRD.

The date for the special general club meeting = Wednesday 5th March 2008.
Meeting place = Sport Taranaki's headquarters, No 2 Field, Yarrow Stadium, Maratahu St, New Plymouth.

Meeting to start at 8 pm. Refreshments provided to ease the pain. So we need at least 15 current club members to be there or to indicate that they are willing to sign the application.

See you there!
