Does anyone have a Merida Mission LRS 2000D as I want to know how they compare with other cross country full suspension bikes like Specialized, Santa Cruz, Rocky Mountain and Giant)

To follow up from some of the comments already added - I'm a 75kg rider who isn't chasing a national title but instead interested in diverse cross country riding. Not in to any extreme down hill action and don't want to lose any power on climbs and could be riding for most of the day.

Maintenance is also a critical factor, don't want to have to drag the bike in for the suspension to be overhauled every few months.

{Posted via mobile.vorb.org.nz} I can see where this is heading, and I dont like it, not one little bit Huh

I suggest you search the forums here for other such threads and see what they deteriorate into (brand name slanging war matches between wikilectuals).

other wise, go ride one. if you like it and can aford it, buy it. other people are not you - ride the bikes you want, and the one that leaves the biggest grin is the best.

{Posted via mobile.vorb.org.nz} Oh, perhaps I should have added:

If you would like to be quite specific, people might add in specific advice. As an example, if you are 55kg whippit looking at getting into national level XC racing with the aim of a national title - the advice would be different to that of a 85kg novice looking at hitting the flat trails once a month. If you can ask a specific question, and give background, the chances of actually getting serious information back is much higher Smile

And SC - one bike is enough Hmmmm

apart from the shock placement (very speshy epic-esque) it's basically a low rear single pivot - so similar to kona kikapu, jamis dakar/xcr, late model turners, rocky's etc)

the relative advantages of the various different suspension systems have been done to death - in the end it comes down to personal taste as much as anything else

the merida certainly has a decent race record

Eh? Y=X+1, where Y is the number of bikes desired and X is the number of bikes owned.

I have had a few rides on my shops demo one, I found it to be a XC race bike climbed well takes the edges of the bumps but didn't smooth the trail like a longer travel bike does. In terms of maintenance I found no design based issues and its been thrashed by customers who have ridden it like its not their bike.

the parts are all pretty standard so no issues thier and Merida have been making this style for a while now so any bugs would have been worked out. They are a bargin at the moment. I wouldnt mind one myself if I had time to ride it. I put one togeather the other day and wanted to take it home.

Disclaimer, yes I sell them.

I'll start by saying i'm not a cross country rider, but i've ridden a 2000d round the shop and round town and it rode great. The 3000d on the other hand (same frame as 2000d I believe), i've taken for a proper thrashing, and it not only survived but it thrieved. I actually wish I get get my weight so centered on my downhill bike!
