 |
|
hey guys
I used to go macleans college 2 years ago, and recently while riding the remains of the mountain bike track we built through the trees, i discovered some baby dirt jumps at the bottom of the reserve. I live near pidgeon mountain (actually i was a contributing builder of 3 of the infamous drops around there) and there is no where suitable for a good set of dirt jumps up there.
Back when i was at school we built some jumps down the side of the mt and the garage at the bottom called the cops on us and we had to re-dig them cause it was maori land and all that bs. Also while at school we filled the grass area in murvale with jumps multiple times, and each time they were demoed by the council. As a note ive seen the jump that is currently in there, and its pretty decent.
Now i know that we cant build a local "transition airfield" in macleans reserve, but this place has potential for some jumps to hit when u cbf driving 60ks to woodhill. Its near a stream so you can get water to help build jumps, and the positioning of them means they are less likely to get knocked down by the council than murvale. Ive been down there a few times with my spade and my bucket and built up one of the jumps, however some useless waste of space pulled it apart, so i have built it up yet again.
Im keen to know how many people who are decent riders woudl like to build up a good set of dirt jumps in there, cause digging them yourself is slow as, and not to mention kinda boring.
Id also like to know who ripped the top off the jump i built, so i can whack my spade in their face.
I know theres lots of ppl around into this type of riding, so we should all get in there and build someting decent that will last...

Needs some really good drainage
And you're right, they dont get torn down by the council. Its all the walkers that jump and stuff on them. But i guess its not like they're big or anything...

Yep, i go to Pak.
Havn't really been back to Pidgeon Mt since the council got really angry at Jono for building a roadgap (which could be seen 3kms away) on the steep side of the mountain.
Sorta drifted away and am building at Whitford, but i dont have a job in the holidays so am keen to help.

hehe yeah i used to do a bit out at whitford with a mate called allister who was friends with some baker guy who gave us a key to the gate. But said allister has had a few bad crashes and barely rides anymore, and i ahvent been to whitford in like a year.
I met someone up there one day who showed me where a gap kicker used to be, it looked good size
if only the bmx track had real sized jumps aye

That would be Dave, which reminds me...i gotta give him his key back
Eventually like what happened with the skaters- The council will realise that DJs are here to stay and will build some dirtparks...Hopefully

Yo guys, sounds like a plan! I've heard rumours but figured the dj's were still piles of (cough). I'm keen for anything, cos I seem to be the only one digging. A group could get those pretty big real quick! but may I suggest murvale is better cos there is no "endangered" trees to worry about. The councill dont care anymore cos the diggers have been making the path better and thought we were the man pulling tricks. They wont demolish it. either way gimmie a buzz cos i live 5 mins away.

Im keen to help. I also think that murvale would be better than macleans because its got heaps more space, already one good jump and from what ive seen not theres many jump destroying losers who hangk around there like they often do at macleans. But any jumps are good jumps. I might go dwn to bunnings and buy a couple of them $7.92 shovels to leave at murvale. Yea and what jono said is right... The council workers there at the moment dont seem to care about jumps being built.

Ok after all the rain yesterday, i went down to macleans and the one jump that id started building up to a decent size has literally been destroyed by a raging flood lol.... Although i wouldnt be suprised if some little tihss had screwed it up first.
Now im thinking maybe murvale is a better option, although its goina take a lot of dirt to build some decent dirt jumps, but hey just means we gotta find more ppl to dig.
The only worry is that the ppl living in the house that overlook the grass area will not like it and moan to the council. I expect it is them which caused the end of previous jumps in murvale. Unfortunately im prob busy tomorrow and saturday, may be free sunday, but otherwise next week keen to start building jumps Good to hear some interest.
