Just a note to those thinking of building jumps at the park. The Hamilton MTB Club is the license holder for the Park which is the sand pit area, we are allowed to use the grass area out of kindness.
We are not allowed to dig or build jumps in the grass area under any circumstances with out the consent of the Hamilton City Council.
We are the ones held responsible for anything that happens out there so we will not hesitate to drive a tractor through anything that is bought to our attention, this is at our cost but takes a lot less time and effort than it takes to build them.
If you wish to have a jump park then I suggest you do as we did and petition the Hamilton City Council for your own area.
Peakcocs road seems to get mentioned quite often maybe that is an option.
To those building jumps in the sand pit area, we are keeping an eye on them and if they start to get to big or dangerous or encroach on any of our tracks which we spend long hours grooming we will do the same.
I apologise for being grumpy but we dont want to loose the use of the park because of the lack of respect for safety by a few.
If you want to discuss this with me check out www.hamiltonmtb.org.nz and drop us a line.

If they are the jumps I think you are talking about, then they will most likely be destroyed/removed. The mtb track weaves it's way through the grass area as well as the sand pit area. I saw some bmxers using them last time I was there (during the club race), and they were right beside and in amongst the race track! The jumps were in between two bits of the track, but the runout crossed the track. The bmxers looked a little peeved that they couldn't jump because racers were riding past all the time, but were courteous enough to wait for gaps in the traffic.
I suggest you find somewhere legal to make your jumps. Like Rossco has suggested, petition the Council. Otherwise you may find your hard work getting destroyed by landowners, the legitimate land users, or the Council.
