(This is what generally happens on dig days. Read the club newsletter for upto date digging instructions.)
The best place to meet is usually at the double down from the top of the track.
Mark usually drives up at about 9:45 and can pick anyone up at the bottom of Brooklyn Hill (opp. Central Vet)
This is what we are working on at the moment.
1. Forming a new track aimed at all rider levels (jawbone). This is the main project this year and Mike Williamson has it well under way. If you would like to work on this track then the best place to meet is at the double where you will see people working on the new track.
2. Redoing the 'Mullet' track which is fun track further down but has been used little - Nick & Hannah Latta are working on improving this track.
3. Redoing the Freeride track. Adrian Armstrong is working on this one.
Improving the currrent track and making some flatter options on it to make it longer.
4. Improving the main race track. Mark Latham is working on this. The main work here will be general maintenance - improving corners, removing ruts etc.
There you have it - take your pick!
We have tools but if you can bring your own that would be great - Grubber or spade is best.
See attached for dates.
If the weather looks a bit dodgy check this forum for cancelations around 8:30-9:30am
We wont be officially running shuttles on these days from now on but may do the impromptu one depending on numbers/vehicles etc. You are welcome to bring your bike if you want to 'session' around a bit in the afternoon.
The tracks will be closed to general shuttling while digging is in progress and will only be opened for shuttling to people who have been digging that day.

The club has never really had a method for letting people know if to come or not.
Generally People look out the window and decide for themselves.
Altough if you live where the weather is fine you might be disappointed coming into town and seeing black clouds up the gully.
The weather can change up there quite quickly too so it makes it hard to make a call early on. In saying that allot of the digging is in sheltered areas or could be moved to calmer spots to do maintainance.
Maybe a 8.30-9.00am Vorb posting in this thread from the digging Leaders to let people know if their going to turn up or not.

ok were in the process of making some detailed rules for those who are recent members.
The $5 is relivant if you are using the road. if your just passing through its no charge.although gold coin donations do go along way.
No charge if your just digging and not shuttling.
Mark will usually contact Steve to let him know if its ok to have our digging going on.
Sometimes the farm will be closed for pest control (goat shooting) and there has been some vandalism in the past which could mean that the gate after the windmill could be locked.Other occasions the watsons have just closed it for their own events.
Colin (another land owner ) is quite protective of the area and patrols and asks questions if you dont look familiar .He may contact the watsons to find out if anyone has asked to be in our area.
so do ring if your not part of a club arranged event.

Damn. And after I had gone to all the effort of getting out of bed (eventually). Ah well - there is always the underfloor insulation that I've still got to install. Plus the new saddle I need to put on the bike.
I'll be digging out at makara tomorrow (bottom of livewires needs dealing to), so if anyone wants to come down there (around 11am or so) and give me a hand that would be kewl.
If anything ends up happening at long gully today, give me a call and I'll head up there.

Ok ..its going to be a little windy , but the wind usually blows the rain away.
Me and virg are heading up soon after we pick up some timber.
I think the weather is meant to clear later on too.
Where the digging is happening it should be quite sheltered too.(jawbone ,420(freeride).
So i'll see you up there.
