The best places to ride in Gissy are probably the Pipe (the worlds finest beachbreak) or anywhere between stocky and whales (the next best thing) .

If you insist on riding a Mtb, Fox st is unfortunatley the only area of single track. Its getting better and better.
There is some good long 4wd track riding in the Hikurangi owned forests mentioned in the kennet brothers books.
There is also an illegal but pretty fun technical downhill track running off the side off Kaiti hill.
There is pretty strong roadie scene here aswell.

We've managed to get the Council to add MTB tracks to part of its future plans for Kaiti Hill

Patience grasshopper....

Freddy from Bikeys is currently mapping out the proposed tracks and the stages they will be built in, then providing feedback to Council to make sure its all OK. Its not just a case of barrelling in there with picks and diggers and letting rip. Its a reserve which needs to be treated as such. We get one chance to do this properly ... if we dont, then we blow it for good.
