why are the farmers complaining? its not like the chip will make their dog act differently, yes i agree its a waste of money on rural dogs but since the farmers would not have to pay for it then i dont see why they are against it

No.

They're claiming it's a big safety initiative, but it's only any use if they catch a vicious dog which is registered/chipped in the act.

People who don't register their dogs aren't going to get them microchipped so the target audience is missed completely.

Bunch of esra I say.

The government isn't going to pay for, they just passed law to make it so that YOU will have to pay for it.
$12-20 bucks for the chip, $35-70 for the vet to put it in

tell that to the 3 kids savaged by wandering farm dogs in northland in the last 6 months Hmmmm

of course, farmers dogs stay on the farm, they never wander, this is a city issue.

bulltihs.

I in no way support the microchipping of all dogs, as the target audience will not be caught. but some of the farmers arguements (farm dogs stay on farms, farm dogs dont attack people etc) are just as wrong.

I think it is bulltihs also. It will be to late to do anything to the dogs once they have already mauled the person. Killing them will be pointless, as others will dogs will do it. And the government isn't going to exterminate all dogs.

so give a decent justification as to why farm dogs deserve different treatment to any other dog?

youre comment implies that farm dogs are different, and people in cities dont understand this distinction. So tell me, what is the distinction???

and btw, nothing personal Wink I dont support the rules proposed, but if they are going to be put inplace, why should farmers be any different.
