Hello Vorbers,

New to the site but been riding in Auckland for a little while.

I'm mainly a XCer but I do like to have a go jumps and skinnys up here at Woodhill (go the novice seesaw!!). I'm also beginning to discover the delights of going downhill so if I win lotto this weekend I may never pedal up a hill again...

Definiately keen on hooking up with some of you for some MTB madness sometime.

Live to Ride!

What's the scariest skinny in Woodhill you've had a crack at? I'm parc at riding along in a straight line - damn my lack of co-ordination...

I've done the novice seesaw though - there's a big sandpit after it if I remember correctly.

i have the same problem as you tama, i cant ride the skinnies for tihs

i want to have a crack at 12 gauge (7-8 foot drop) but it has a 4 inch skinny as the upramp if i remember correctly, and the rest is the 6 inch wide and foot wide stuff which i am reasonably confortable on, well the foot wide stuff is easy as, but the 6 inch wide stuff is a little harder

hey i will be going up to auckland on the 5th of june and leaving on the 8th i will be going to woodhill, keen to meet some of the auckland vorbers

the scariest would probably be some of the stuff just up from the carpark. Not sure when you were last up at woodhill but there are a few less "risky" structures at the very beginning of link trail, they're only about a foot off the ground!

It's probably not that skinny though; about 60cms wide! Ends out with a seesaw thing.

Theres also so really skinny stuff up there nice and low which is fun to try. A half round and a pole from a sign post (about 3 inches across).

One day I want to try the big muma double but probably not any day soon!

last time i came up was umm end of last year i think, i can do everything in that area by the carpark except for the rounded log, but i wanna see if i can master those

last time i came up i had my old bike and i didnt hit any of the big drops, just the B line of 12 gauge and the 3 foot one on the fatachene track, i only rode link, cookie, spaghetti and fatachene cos i didnt have much time but i'm gonna go for the whole day this time and ride big muma and the afterglow as well cos ive been told they are cool

has the piledriver drop been fixed up yet? cos thats another one that i might try if im feeling like it, cos it looks a bit easier than 1/2 gauge cos i think it was a bit wider, but last time i went it was roped off, it looked all broken and the landing was really rutted and sandy

are there any drops that are of reasonable size (say 6 foot) that are nice and wide and are not slow speed ones that i can hone my skills on before i attempt the really big stuff (some day i would like to be able tp nail octopussy, that would be the crowning achievement Big Grin )

what are some other fun primarily dh tracks at woodhill, is off piste any good?

Yeah those rounded logs are fun! Like I said there is a really low one by that stuff at the carpark now so it's good to muck around on.

I can think of one drop that is probably not quite 6 foot but might get that way if you hit it a bit faster, I think it's on afterglow. I did also see some nice cliff drops in Spoke Magazine but I don't think they are in the bikepark....

Off piste is quite nice but real short. The top of Mumas tail is also fun. I think afterglow is your best bet for some gravity fuelled stuff though. I wouldn't say woodhill is a major DH destination anyway but there are definiately some nice sections on just about every trail.

I haven't checked out piledriver in a while; it's a bit out of my league for now anyway!
