Well the calls been made, and on either Sunday or Monday (weather dependent), me and a friend are having a blat around q'town.

Gonna have my DMR, so will probably go have a look at the jump park, but am looking for some other stuff to ride (damn it, I'm gonna be pushing my bike a lot Sad). Anyway, can you guys recommend some tracks, and where to find em, and a short discription. I already have heard about the one with the creek gap at the bottom, so other tracks are appreciated.

I'm also going to head to Vertigo, and bail them up about where some of the local tracks are Smile.

Thanks

Ah... here we go. My Fav subject, WELLLL

theres the jump park which you could spend all day at just susing out the lines, in the weekend theres usually heaps of people and all are pretty good, theyll show you lines and give you tips if you are friendly. Just up behind it is the coolest track youll ever do, well the top and bottom section at least, the middles a bit soso. Plus got some phat jumps and stuff.

Skippers is good 'packtrak' is good if your in the lower class of riding, and the 'zoot track' on the queenstown side is recently done up and very good riding.

Skyline HAS got car access but youd have to give sexual favours to the dude that owns skyline, cause hell never give anyone a key unless theyre a volunteer group doin something for the community, or give good head.

Up skyline there are around 20 world class grade (ie VERY challenging) tracks on top of around 10 other very good tracks. Even better is to go up ben lomond.

Round the skatepark in town has some OK riding, better on a hardtail for sure, lots of natural stuff to do, all levels of riders can find cool stuff.

Up moke lake theres a gravity cross course, or BSX being the modern term, its a bit underused but VERY fun for a group of people, to play aroundon without needing transport.

Moonlight has some cool DH in it, although more XC oreintated.

There is a single track that follows the whole way round the lake , up to the head of it which is also VERY cool, and you dont need tripples either.

Arrpwtown too has a cool hucking skatepark, and if you go play by the river theres always stuff to do

You cant get a bike in the gondolas unless your doing a tour with Tim Cecis vertigo crew, which is around $99 for one run, yes steep, but everything is included and you get to ride with some VERY fast guys such as Ben Rafferty, Timmy himself, Christian... its all good

I guess thats enuff for one weekend, i live there 6 months a year and have ridden less than 20% of the DH tracks in the region

Have fun!

ya have to walk it man unless ya have a set of bolt cutters i think, theres a chain blocking the track up and the skyline people wouldn't let us up. but its a nice walk on a nice day and the down hill is soooo flowly and nice hmmmmmm, mite have to do it some time this weekend.

Crankin -> Cheers for all of that, sounds like I will have my hands full.

Tim -> For reference (in case we bail on alex and come to wanaka instead) where's good riding around the area? Especially more DH style..

the bmx track is still ride able but needs some work done on it to make it fun again, there has been so talk about fixing it but then the idea of a jump park came up and looks like that will be going ahead which is cool.
and tim this is brent mcclintock, thanks for the shirt and the stickers, the bike and the car look much better now. Big Grin

a real good ride is up fernhill, u go throw town and u will see a sign that says fernhill. now follow the road until u see a road sign that says winyard ces turn up the road and follow it, frist u will see a power station but keep going around the corner if u follow the road just about at the top there will be a clearing on the right. there will be three tracks, one gos down one gos straight up the hill and the other gos on an angle. take the one on an angle u will come to a tree this is the start of the track. follow the trackall the way until u get to the bottom of a steap drop away past the power stationthere will be a clearing go to the left and there will be the famous fernhill jump park. trust me im from qtown Smile Smile

P.S u go all the way down the hill so u may need transport back up or u can push all the way.

hope u have fun, qtownguy !!!!
