Had 5 days in wanaka riding before xmas and it waws awesome and oh so much downhill to be had....I didn't even mind the push back up because the riding was wicked and the tracks are so well keps and the jumps are perfect! I have a videobut can't get it onto VORB cos its to big. Thanks to all the Vorbi who told us where to ride made things easier. Also popped over to QT for a blast on mini dream...wicked...! We are going back in march to hit it all up again!

Yep, Wanaka is pretty cool - and what a difference riding properly shaped jumps instead of the bollox-rubbish on the Port Hills. I think all Cantab jump builders should have to go to Wnaka to see how to build a jump properly. They are sweet...

I've said it once - I'll say it again...
Victoria Park needs more flowing tracks and well built jumps like Wanaka!!!
Our current "off camber or nothing / "build a ramp but no landing" approach means Chch riders struggle on everything except for rocky, off camber fall-line tracks.
After the nationals building / racing is done - I'd like to co-ordinate a new trail that incorporates a flowing fun concept... instead of steep and out of control.
Heck... it could even be a 'track for everyone to enjoy'!

Geez stun - has the christmas spirit got to you or something? You'll be riding single speed next... But yes, I'll wave a spade if someone can organise something. Something that flows down the hill would be a revelation...

Yes Or maybe you could stop whinging and come build some trails.
It's all very well to hctib about the stuff being built not being any good, or not being to your liking, but you'll get a whole lot more respect if you actually get off your ass and do some building your self.

Nah - baaah humbug!
I've been pmiping the idea of a flowing track for ages.
Every track building I've been involved with has been hi-jacked by the same people... always after off camber / big hit tracks.
That's cool... and that's a lot of the riding I do.
However, a little variation wouldn't hurt.
People have asked for North Shore a lot... but I don't think Vic. Park is the place for it.
Our tracks are ridable and it's easier to build on the ground - unlike in Canada.
I've had a chat to a few people. Next up is approaching the rangers.

Nah.
I've helped build a lot of the tracks - starting with the exit of Vic Park (single track after the Eucalypts), then the original Lava Flow (when the bottom part actually flowed) and many many many more.
I've ridden enough fall-line tracks, now I'd like to make something fun and 'full of pop'.
Brents Track is a good example... but without the lame straight line sections (people who cut out corners 'cos they can't turn).
Real berms.
Real jumps, not wooden ramps or logs pilled on the ground.

I don't think Vic Park is the best place for it, the soil and steepness work against us, I like mtbrats idea that we talked about last night about developing out at godley head
