Bikeparks has a riding area out there with trails/jumps/etc. Check www.bikepark.co.nz .
It's a clay base so a bit slick when wet but good in summer.

Good in the summer or after an extended dry period. Even then, the pine needles on top of hard pack clay make it pretty loose in places.
The trails are shorter than Woodhill, but generally more technical (Whitford intermediate = Woodhill advanced). The structures aren't as big as Woodhill but there's still some nice XXX and XXXXs.
It's definetely worth the drive.

is it being developed (new jumps and structures being built)??
i live in Howick and go riding most weekends but Woodhill is to far away and petrol costs too much

Whitford is good fun, diefiently worth the trip from howick.

Its like a 10 minute drive from howick or not much more. Theres a few good jumps through there but its not very big and tracks are tihsty in winter

Oh and if your going in the week make sure you park on the road and ride in because the place is not manned by a bike parks dude and you will get your car broken into
