I've only heard Kaiser Chiefs through their song on GT4. Catchy I guess, but very much in the vein of the British new wave of pop.

Hmm, I thought it was play on the work Kaiser itself. This music is a bit 'sca*' for me....
*or however you spell it.

bah, the best ska came out of Jamaica between 1962 and 1966. all else (apart from some of the british revival stuff of the late 70's NOT including Madness and UB40) is parc particularly the late 90's US revival which is plain awful.
THJA/music bore rant off.

HDC - I hope you aren't bad-mouthing The Specials and Two Tone recordings
Kaiser chiefs are alright - bit too samey with the rest of the guitar/indie revival coming out of the UK. Bloc party are much better, as are Hard-Fi (who are well worth a listen). Athlete sound a bit to whiney coldplay/travis etc for my liking - though they have something extra about them.
I'm currently listening to Architecture in Helsinki (Aussies). And the Teenage Fanclub back catalogue of course.
Try http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/steve_lamacq/ and stream the show for a good selection of british music in a similar vein.

certainly not.... my first exposure to this stuff was thru that, and I still listen to it occasionally. My realisation that "Pressure Drop" WASNT a Clash song is what led me to Toots and the early stuff.
alll good.
