Today, contrary to popular public opinion the President of the Victoria University Mountain Bike Club broke cover, ending rumours of his untimely demise at the bars of a road bike.
In a written statement issued from an undisclosed location El Presidente said (the CIA, NSA and Military Intelligence ( Oooooooh ) have all questioned the validity of this report):

2003 IS HERE AND WE'RE ARE UNDERWAY
Welcome back guys, it's a new year, and yep: We've been slow off the mark due to inevitable f.ck ups, and the fact we are all students. But we're looking strong, and we've got more females in the club, more beginners, and more people looking to have fun on bikes. So come along, meet the people and I gaurantee you will not be disappointed.

Firstly, I need to mention some of our riders who carved on the National circuit over summer. They are all going to the Blenheim one off Nats race this weekend so if you're there, support them.

Brenda Clapp - That's Bob.
Fourth overall in womens Pro Elite XC. Awesome display from our Lifetime member. She carved it all up on a mighty purdy bike (PACE frame and forks. mmmm.) and showed why she's one of the most respected riders in NZ. I'm Proud to say she's a member of the club I ride with.

Gen Whitson - Where'd she come from?
In a meteoric rise to the top Gen finshed 5th in Pro Elite XC in her first year of Pro Elite racing. She's definately going places (fast) and yet she's one of the nicest people you'll meet she's even planning a female rider day for skills and intro's. Smilie, happy, and just a wee bit crazy, Gen's awesome.

Tim Wilding - We can rebuild him. We have the technology. It comes from Tip Top

Tim WON the National Pro Elite HillClimb title, beating out such legends as Steve Bale, and Simon Kennett. HillClimbing is the pursuit of the real sadists in our sport and Tim has shown he probably swings a furry vorb spank paddle with the best of them.
On top of that he finished 11th overall in Pro Elite Men, just 2 points from 7th. I expect to see Tim racing at top level overseas in a wee bit and I'm glad he's on our team at Uni Games.
-------------------------------------------
It's getting late, but I'll post a full outline for new members in the next few day.
Seeing as I don't have a MTB at the mo and the Cruiser is bung (I hate the Irony) I've got some spare time.

Cheers to VORB (Tama) for hosting our forum.
