Any local Rotorua that can show a girl some good freeride trails. Just looking at the Mountain bike guide book and they just show a bunch of xc trails. Cheers Heidi

Theres not too much freeride trails in Rotorua but you should check out the Funn trail and Double Down at the redwoods. (you can get a map from the visitors centre)
You can ride the former Nats DH track but your not allowed to shuttle it.

yep its all free to ride, most stuff is made for trail riding as opposed to xc racing ie up the hill and down till you are all broken and crippled. mos of the trails have drops and jumps of some degree. the older ones closer to the carpark have less.
gunna gotta and north face as well as the Funn trail are more "freeride" esq trails, all require pedaling as the locals on big bikes do. none of the tracks in the redwoods area Rotorua are shuttle-able.

Sweet, thanks for the info. Looking forward to trying a few of the jumps and pedalling up - makes a sweeter reward - if you have the day off or afternoon let me know - the more the merrier. Sounds like Welly will be fun on Tuesday/Wednesday.

ha ha, we are leaving Friday morning to Rotorua (maybe Thursday night if there is no wind). I will be riding Banshee Scream once I get all my parts sent to the shop. Thank goodness for Ryan at Freeride'n' given me a bike to ride while I wait for mine to be built.
Take a sick day off work and meet us, I think we have 5 or 6 of us making the drive.
Cheers, Heidi

I have a day off school. The old english teacher died. He was there for 37 years, so its a rather large occasion.

It was nice in Rotorua but had to hit Vegas Cycle to get my fork fixed (thanks guys!). They are squish now but I missed the sun and its raining hard right now. What will the downhill course be like after an evening of rain? Is it a greasy track?

dont know what the DH track will be like but the rest of the tracks dry out quite well as its not a clay base so gets good drainage
