Has anyone ridden the Waihaha Track recently (within last 12 months)? Just wondering what state the track is in and how long it took to bike in to the hut. I haven't been in there for several years.

I rode in around May last year and the track was in good nick. We rode it at night in the rain during a Southerly storm and it took us about 2 hours each way.

Sorry I don't know where this track is, but if it's on doc, or chh land you can ring them or who ever owns the land and they might be able to help you (thats if you are aloud to ride this track).

as did I
I also rode most of it at labour weekend during daylight it was in great condition.
friends have also ridden it in the past few months and have raved about it. I think if yor allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours each way you should be fine.

I got this cool tee-shirt from Vorb Shop that lists a whole bunch of rides around NooZeelan
I want to try and ride all those tracks.
Waihaha is listed, so I want to do it sometime. I've heard real good things about it so it was already on my 'one day' list before I bought the tee shirt.
Enjoy the ride Blair
Oh and wlecome to Vorb.
Snap !!!
I have one of those cool tee shirts too he he he he.
Waihaha Tramping Track
(3 hours to hut, 6 hours return)
The track follows the Waihaha River through shrubland before entering dense podocarp forest. Kaka can often be heard around the hut. Toilets and water are available at the hut.

Last time i did this (2004?) our car got ripped off at the car park We lost HEAPs (and got bugger all back from insurance!) and i don't want a repeat performance to be fair.
I;ve heard you can contact one of the local farmers who might let you park on their land. We're looking to go in in early december.
Has anyone got any contact details or an update on this?
