It's difficult to get poeple out of their own vehicles to get in yours...
People love their cars (for whatever reason).
It doesn't matter how good the transport is at our events, people will still run in their own vehicles.
Doubt it. It's hard enough to get guys to cough up 5 bucks for gas! Besides, when I am shuttling, I hardly ever see anyone else shuttling, so I don't think there are that many people doing it. Mind, young peeps maybe into it.
To add to what I said previously.
When we run D-Day's in Chch (where almost all the tracks end in the same location)... we mainly get kids!
Mum and dad don't want the kids underfoot, so they give them $20's and then drop them off at Bowenvale for a days riding.
The older riders may turn up for a while, but generally get sick of sitting in vans with groms(!!!) all day... and end up doing runs in private vehicles.

HHHHMMMMMmmmmmmmm... Both good answers, but maybe people don't go out because it's too much trouble to organize. Let's say that all transport (obviously), access, encouragement (ya ya do that 40 footer!!!) , food and whatever else that the peeps would need on a shuttling day is provided.
I think that there is a huge upside as long as everyone comes on board (council, landowners, mtb community, parents... )
Oh, i should add that this isn't going to be a baby sitting business and non ghetto. Non ghetto meaning, chucking a trailer on a back of a dodgy car and throwing everyone into a clown car and racing to the top of the hill. It will be professional! Uh..as professional as i can get.
Age restrictions can be put in place. 18yrs and older please. Or, height restrictions like carnival rides. Only people taller than 5 '2'.
I could be wrong, but I think you are ssiping into the wind. Most shuttlers I have come across have their own vehicles. What is left is young-'uns. There aren't that many around to justify running a business I wouldn't think. You may be lucky enough to cover costs.

Rod from Cycle Services attempted something like this many years back, Tallbeast was thinking about it last year.
I think the biggest problem is getting consent - keeping in mind that many of the best shuttling tracks are inummm... sensitive areas no official in their right mind would rubber stamp you through.
Oh, and people with $6,000 bikes are strangely stingy.

You wouldn't make any money dude -
Shuttlers only wanna pay $10/15 or so a day usually - That will hardly cover fuel, let alone make you any pesos...
Also, little business except on Weekends... I'm sure there's massive amounts of legal tomfoolery you'd have to wade through also before you could safely do something so... different.

There's a guy who has started a variety of limited Wgtn shuttle services as a tourist venture. "Mikes Bikes".
OK profesisonally you'd have to do the whole ACC/OSH reg thing etc.
I also considered this a while ago. Apart from the issue of people wanting to pay a little as they can get away with, you'd have to know a whole heap of tracks, and you'd have to be onside with the people who build those tracks, ie commercially "exploiting" their volunteer labour could be an issue leading to dark mutterings.
If you can get a hookup with backpackers and tourism places then I reckon you could cater to the visitor market. But you would be in competition with the other dude too, in some extent.
