It's not bad where I live (Henderson Valley)
25min to Woodhill
20 min to Riverhead
20 min to Karekare for a surf
15 min comute to work
and a Vinyard for a neigbour.
all for just $70 a week.

wind, pah we don't have wind , we have stiff breezes every now and then. And quite frankly palmy is windier and every time I've been to auckland it's either windy, wet or humid or all 3, actually usually wet
Hahahah wellington get more sunshine hours than any other major centr, and keiran nelson ain'ta major centre so it odn't count having endless sunshine (cept for races).
And I pay $85 )15 is for bills) and I've got a 20 min ride (40 on the DMR) to makara, 5 mins ride (either bike) to Mt Vic, work, mCallitser park, Mt Albert. !5 mins to Tinakori(walking tracks that I walk my bike down of course), And thers heaps of other tracks in between. And if I had a car I could be at anyone of at a rough guess 60-70 differnet tracks (and thats conservative) within 25 mins
It's been said before and I'll say it again "wellington is the mountainbike capital of new zealand" In fact I'd go so far to say that the largest percentage of Pro Dh'ers have come from welly in the pastthan another region And tihs loads of XC bunnys as well

You need some edu-mah-cation son... Time to start saving for "Tour de NZ"... the only probs being, even at my elderly age I'm still discovering/ exploring NZ. My big gap is down Fiordland way / Stewart Island...
...still, the North Island is still keeping me amused, and I'd rate the South Island outdoors better in terms of stuff to do.
I regards to Trials Guy - the poor bugger is in Hamilton at the moment. Even though Hamilton is technically a suburb of Auckland he prolly wants to get more central, and buy a Nissan Pulsar and get it lowered, and put stupid blue lights under it...
...Being a Welly lad I have no idea of what's going free in the land of Auck - best to ping Chris Birch and kru.
(I did get your e-mail, I've just been insanely insanely busy at work, which is why I'm posting in the morning.)

ive been everywhere in NZ, rode the sandflys at cape reinge (they were rather large) saw a shark feeding frenzy at spirits bay, then, been thru the tunnel to milford sound and checked out the manapouri hydro dam....... and all the bits in between
Personally..... if there was any other city i would want to live in in NZ other then gissy, it would be wellytown. its cool
