This Sunday (31st October) a couple of us are riding on the hills above Wainuiomata
The ride does include the H word (hill) so there will be some climbing, but every up is rewarded with a down. We are not whippets so don't worry about being of slower pace, although it is a XC type ride rather than "pushing a heavy sled up so you can fly back down down" ride.
Plan is to leave Wellicity at eight and drive to park outside Parkway College - being ready to ride by nine. (Right at the first roundabout on the Wainui side of the hill, 800 metres further and BINGO you are there)
We will climb up the track past the water tank and ride the tracks toward the north - returning the same way when people have had enough (or in time for me to be back in the city by mid-day - whichever is sooner)
There is lots of riding up there - plenty of scope for people to push on and do extra stuff if they want.
Good chance for QCW riders to come for a spin.

Sounds excellent - count me in (although I'll probably be horribly broken given the amount of time I've been off the bike). Ah well, there is always gasping for air....

Any rides available for one car-less grom
What are the tracks like that way? Muddy, rocky, slick, steep?
You guys won't be going to fast will you? I can ride hills, but not at XC warp speed

The first climb is clay based and can be slippy in places - most of it is well formed 4wd type track - good traction.
VM & Kah - see you about 9 ish
Francis - sorry I have a full car - anyone else got room?
Weather looks good - now back to my liquid absorbsion program

Oh well, might do Makara instead.
I've got some tires to test out and I haven't yet ridden the new bit of track (Ridgeline extension?) that we made
