...the most difficult bit was working out how to make a video that showed what it's like to ride deliverance, without
a) being so parc quality that you can't see anything
b) being so short that you don't get the feel for the track
c) being over 8MB in size (damn you tama!)
Oh - and I ended up getting premiere elements this afternoon, as Studio was having such a hard job of rendering anything today...it (premiere) seems to be ok - certain did the job without too many complaints (although it does appear to be a bit of a memory hog) |

I'm about to spend an hour or so downloading it, but I'm sure it'll be cool!
Will pass final judgement on it tomorrow, Jono. |

You need to de-interlace it dude, it'll smooth it out |
 |
|
Jono Mon 31/Oct/05 11:14pm |
Hmmm...is this something that premiere will do for me? Damn this video stuff is more confusing than it's supposed to be |

Yep |

Jono Mon 31/Oct/05 11:23pm |
I think I've found the correct option - if this is the case, I'll re-render it all and upload again soon... |

Sweet ass, good choice of soundtrack too, the mission are a longtime personal fave |

Jono Mon 31/Oct/05 11:26pm |
...my - that is a lot better (well, on the line-like interlacing stuff). Tar SCDHer |
 |
|
Jono Mon 31/Oct/05 11:38pm |
...now with additional de-interlacing fun |

The track looks like a mix between Canterbury's Craigiburn / Wharfdale.
But obviously not as good (as it's in the N.I.)...
*bait*
Oh - and cool vid Jono! |

No it's actually better, cos the riders don't talk about riding it and then go eat sausages or other piking activities, they actually go and ride it |

Speed is a funny thing. It took us 3 hours to ride the track while filming, and about 10 minutes on the fork-cam run
Reminded me quite a bit of the dropin process |

Great vid Jono You make it look too easy.
If you ever want to show how a muppet rides it, let me know. |

Nice Jono - makes me want to go ride Deliverance, for some strange reason. |

Wow - Great great video
It looked almost dry and almost ridable by me - I might have to head up there on the weekend |

So it's more akin to Blowhard then? |

So it's more akin to Blowhard then? | I've ridden the Oxford Forest region, but haven't ridden Blowhard proper. The bush in Deliverance is very dense jungle-styles, rather than open beach, and Deliverance Valley is somewhat damp at the best of times. So more similar, but still different.
If you actually came up to Wellington and rode your bike then you'd be able to experience it for yourself |

Blowhard has the easier (still steep as heck) and more difficult way down (technically not legal to ride).
The difficult way down is seriously testical!
Senior tech riders to apply only!
It's now way harder than ever due to all the gorse that has grown over the trail...
I'd rate it as my favourite technical DH ever.
Craigiburn is a good traverse + DH, but definitely not tech.
Wharfdale is a ride - not a DH in my books.
One day I'll ride in Wellington.
But I've got a heap of other places in Canterbury / SI that I still haven't fully explored!
The West Coast is beckoning... as is Wanaka! |

Heh - I can remember back when we first built it. We were all riding XC bikes (63-80mm travel forks), with the seat up. It was a big challenge to get through without feeling nervous.
That said, I'm still pleased when I manage to clean it all without dabbing - that big root climb after the small stream towards the top of the track is quite tricky |

It was quite dry. Apart from the car drop at the start (in the longer version that I've got gary discovered (the same way that I did) that the landing is really slippy. And I had to edit out (for size constraints) his call of "where the fook is this trail?" as he was trying to find his way down to the car drop
It was pretty dry yesterday morning too (after the drizzle on sunday I was surprised) |

Hmmmm - I'm passing through that way (very briefly) just after new years; down the west coast, a couple of days in wanaka, a day in hanmer and a couple of days in kaikoura...perchance we could catch up? |

Stun Tue 1/Nov/05 10:04am |
Yeah - some of the Chch boys will be doing the Q/Town + Wanaka + Dunedin + Naseby thing over New Years.
I'm waiting to see if I have to work through or not...
Odds on, I will.
I'm the newbie in the team - and will have to spend my 1st Christmas break in Chch...
But I do hope to get down South soonish.
