...Just to prove that it is a good idea to take a DH bike on an XC ride every once in a while.

I'll definitely be going back there - the downhills are a mixture of perfect techy-singletrack, and the good and scary bits of the (karapoti) rock garden.

I call it an epic, but it was only 25km, and 1000m of climbing. And I was pretty broken at the end of it all {Smile}

Should be viewable with windows media player (I'm running v10 and it works proper-like).

Pretty much everyone who has tried the VideoLAN VLC player has had good results with it. Damned MP4 codecs {Smile}

cheers - I was pleased to see that the DVD renderer works well - the quality is a lot better on DVD than on a tiny 320*240 window with masses of compression {Smile}

Loverly vid Jono! {Double Thumbs Up}

It didnt work for me on WMP, or Quickannoytime, so I used my dodgy bit of Hungarian software to play it!

I have no idea why it doesnt work though.

Hi there, any suggestions as to what to view it on? My Windows media player (V10) wasn't keen on playing it for me.

Quicktime plays those mp4 files

Which means Quicktime alternative should also play it if you don't want quicktime

Jono is being Mr. Fancy Pants and has made the video a .mp4, which should run on Quicktime if you've got that. If you don't have Quicktime then don't get it - Get Divx instead. You might need to download a special codec to play .mp4, but it works sweet on mine {Smile}

Great video! Shame it's so parc quality. I wish I had come on the ride.
I swear by VLC Media Player. Small, customizable and very efficient. It's also free.

whos that doing the drop at the end?

...you might find that it plays if you've got the divx viewer (but my WMP 10 definitely plays it). The compression is MPEG4 SIF (352*240) with MPEG4 Stereo 128kb/s sound.

Bizarrely, it doesn't play on my quicktime viewer...

That would be me. Funny thing about video. It makes everything look flat. And doesn't show properly how everything was clay (slippy as all hell) and covered in roots {Smile}

It's definitely playing in my WMP using the DivX codec. Oddly, along with not playing inside the Quicktime viewer, it doesn't play inside the DivX viewer either. This whole content creation thing is a lot more difficult than I had expected {Smile}

I've found that my video editing software can create WMV streams too - I've got a WMV version that I can upload if the DivX stuff is getting everyone confused...

See James - you too can ride your DH bike uphill (once you've got it built up, obviously) {Smile}

Gosh theres some sexy looking esras in that clip.

Also some very stylie extra camera work (even if I did hit the tree while panning around on the drop shot).

There certainly are excellent esras. I especially liked the way that you waggled yours as you went past the camera in one of the shots.

Any chance you could post a mong-proof version that doesn't require the slightest bit of computer know how/codec giberish {Eh?}

Its not for me, it for a friend... {Paranoid}

You wouldn't believe the amount of training I had to complete before I could hold it steady. There was a bit at the end of that shot (i.e. not in the vid itself now), where there was a little muddy dip. "I could ride that" I thought. "But not one handed with confidence, and not while I'm carrying the camera I've borrowed from my dad in the other hand. He may have forgiven me the dent in the roof of his car (when a bike on a roofrack fell off), but probably not smashing his camera while attempting to ride something one-handed"

(actually, the riding uphill holding the camera behind my leg was the most uncomfortable bit)

Well, since I'm not wanting to get tama to deal with changing the file, I've uploaded the vid to my rather small homepage, where it can be accessed until paradise realise what is going on and tell me off.

If you like the vid, the original can be found on this page here, and you can rate it... {Smile}

Nice! Reminds me of those early 90's mtb videos...

If you go to this site you can download the codec that makes it all good in WMP10.

Codec is the 3ivx if anyone was wondering.

Although you have to set WMP to "all files" as it still won't autoplay it for some reason.
