big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 6:49pm |
what kind bike you riding there?
im on a hardtale with dirt jams so it might be a bit rougher for me?
i havnt rode in christchurch to compare with |

SamultheCamul Sun 11/Sep/05 6:53pm |
Nah, you should really be thanking Hadley and Byron and the other guys that built those trails. Those guys set up the dh in Palmy.
Me and my mates just decided to put a double there when I built the track for the 2003 K loop challenge. and then In 2004 we decided to add another 10foot to the already in existance graveyard jump.
Ive riden many bikes up there. its all smooth clay, with a lack of rocks or anything. Slippery as in the wet, but still damn smooth.
Good to hear there are still guys riding out there, keep those tracks in shape aye, ill be home in x-mas |

I think koots holds up quite well in the wet eh. Compared to some other wet tracks ive ridden. Do you happen to know who built the pool or sickness what ever its called... I think we met one of the dudes up there once riding a demo9 but ust to ride a p3 back in the day... |
big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 6:57pm |
yea man the tracks are sweet
im not sure if you know but theres an upn ramp set bout 10 foot before the double making it a tripple now
and a few new largish crate jumps made as well |
SamultheCamul Sun 11/Sep/05 7:08pm |
Um yea i heard it was a tripple.
Think james rennie was hitting it up not too long ago.
Have an idea who built the sickness, there were a collection of guys who used to ride out there, I remember there being a kona, santa cruz s8, demo 9 and some others. Dont know the names sorry.
I never really rode the sickness, but i do remember thinking it needed quite a bit of work. The wooden structures were especially dodgy. |

Yeah some ones cassed the back of it and the logs have fell in... Its real solid though I just hate the step down before it. I rember going there when I was 11 on a mates cross bike the jumps seemed so huge and pepole were mean to me... |

sam kloop doesnt have a lack of roots!! go up there in the middle of winter and tell me that when ur getting kicked left right up and down off them.
The graveyard as you see it might get a make over if i get motivated enough in the summer because when we built it quite frankly we did a tihs job, im thinking maybe 10ft longer and way more lip to put you sky high
also, if people are gonna go adding new jumps to the track which it doesnt need cos it wrecks the flow of the track can you at least do a good job of things, theres nothing worse than walking up and finding that sum1 has built some half ass attempt at a jump which i then have to pull down. |
big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 7:23pm |
ha i still have to jump the grave yard as it is now
if you do change it u should do some work on the down ramp make it real big and smooth for the hard tails |
Cleatus Sun 11/Sep/05 7:27pm |
what it needs is a bigger take off, the landing moved back 10ft and given a bit of slope cos its pretty rough on any sort of bike not just hard tails.
weve done sum rough measurements (hitting it tapped and seeing where we land) and we reckon that even with the current take off we could the landing back about 10ft cos we are flat landing easily enough |

Oh, I wasnt talking about the big jump (some of my friends have hit that without any problems.) rather the track that follows it, that had some sort of north shore bridge attempt in it! was very dodgy!

I said rocks Mally.
Didn't realise you still ride up there anyway!
Graveyard is two long and flat, you have to get in the trees boy! |

Cleatus Sun 11/Sep/05 7:30pm |
well bugger me u did to.
we mite be getting quad bike up there with a trailer sumtime so we can move all the rocks that are there and make a decent rock garden to.
i ride heaps at kloop mate, especially now its dry, if only i wasent broken |
big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 7:37pm |
my thoughts on k loop is that it needs more jumps and berms
some big dirt doubles i say
Mosfet Sun 11/Sep/05 7:40pm |
It needs a gnikcuf chair lift |
dh_winner Sun 11/Sep/05 7:41pm |
you need to toughen up. grom |
Cleatus Sun 11/Sep/05 7:42pm |
na its got plenty of jumps, most of them are tihs ass peices of workmanship and shd be torn down and re built, a couple of berms would be nice but they arent totally neccesary, you can ride that track bloody fast as it is and if you put to many berms in it then it only makes it easier.
you dont need a chair lift, u can do 5 full runs in a day if you want to, we have before and it gets you real fit |

burn.
Jonny you free to put some spokes in my rear wheel for me.
Its looking pretty sad at the moment. |
big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 7:45pm |
im not talking about those ssipy little wooden things that shoot you 3 feet if your lucky
im meaning some large smooth doubles not neceserily on the track so people can still ride it normally but just to the side a bit for some entertainment |

Just stop for a second...imagin a chair lift at koots...see the smiles? The happy children? Get the drift? |
dh_winner Sun 11/Sep/05 7:47pm |
no. |
dh_winner Sun 11/Sep/05 7:47pm |
i hate children. especially when the buggers are happy. |
Cleatus Sun 11/Sep/05 7:48pm |
if u want them then you build them, just dont put them were people are gonna get angry and tear them down. me and my mates have put god knows how many hours of spade work in up there, its good for you.
weve looked at building big one of jumps up there before and we couldnt really find a place that wasent gonna get in the way and had a good run in but if you can then go 4 it |
big_daddy_jj Sun 11/Sep/05 7:49pm |
ok so if a chair lift is built every one will get rides to the top and many more runs
except dh_winner because he thinks he is to tough to take a free ride, hed rather walk |
