| Quote: | it is not that easy.
most pencil cams are fixed focus, fixed aparture, and have very poor ability to cope with changing ambient light. If you are filming with one, it works best in consistant forest cover or consistant open track.

That's true up to a point.... after my first run with it in Wales i obtained an alloy "sun hood" which eliminates sunflare when moving in and out of contrasting light.
Of course, it could also be the cr*p weather in the UK that meant it was constantly grey anyway......

wot kind of helmets cameras would they use on nwd1/2/3 etc?
i doubt my camera wold work for a helmet camera cos its like 10 years old and whenever u move it it goes out of focus slightly and takes a second or to to re focus.

Cleatus:
You'd probably want to check this out further, but if you've got an AV-in jack on your video camera (like if your taping from the TV to yor camera, tho' I don't know why you would.....) then there's bound to be a pencil-style camera to match from somewhere.
The beauty of the newer digital videos are that they are a lot smaller, so easier to carry around, but aside from the image processing and recording medium, the principle is still the same as it always has been - as far as I know.......
Could be talking bollox of course.......

Doug had he camera mounted on his handlebars during the Sunday morning Woodhill ride, I think it turned out pretty good from what I saw on the small screen. Look forward to seeing it on the big screen!
Especially the gap gone wrong!

Sean: footage looks good on the big screen, and oh yes, that fly- bounce - crash sequence is pretty spectacular!!! I'll grab some stills and submit for the Muntage threads......
