well from wot iv found. the carbon soaks up thos little vibrtions you get when you are riding on the road. when compering it to my older aloy bike. that just rattles away.
so i would say carbon is alot more comfy

comparing your old Alloy bike, with a modern carbon frame is not apples with apples.
have you ridden a alloy or steel frame of the same value as your carbon bike?

Plus One - this is quite true a $5k Alloy Frame rides like decent Steel/Ti

Well IMHO a steel frame for training (not a faux steel ti frame but real steel, old and Italian) and a light stiff carbon bike for racing. Who cares about comfort in a race?

case in point - the fridge has just lashed out on a new ride, choice in the end came down to a ridley noah or a hot deal on a NOS 05 'dale r5000. Test rode both up the port hills - chose the r5000 cos despite being all alloy it was a much comfier ride than the noah (carbon but designed to be super stiff)

What is up with the dude in the Surley ad? Filmed in San Francisco???
Even though I love my Pinarello FP3 I still lust after a Steel Pinarello, Colnago or Merkcx. With old Super Record or course.
