Maybe I spoke too soon Trail, the back tyre of my treadly has been slowly going flat since last Sunday. Could be a pinch flat since there were some rocky parts on the trail. No damage to the rim this time though
But you don't change tyres? Swapping tyres for the conditions and experimenting is part of the fun for me
Nope. I find tyres that work, and then I ride them until they wear out!! If you are into swapping tyres all the time then tubeless with goop probably is not for you.
To me less time faffing with tyres = more time riding!!
The tyres that I use work well in everything from gravel to hard pack and rock to tree rooty beech forest loamy goodness and mud.
I dont cross country race and so dont really care if a tyre is a bit slow rolling... just means I get a bit fitter pushing the tyre along and I am never last of the group up the hill!!

I use stan's its sweet as, not tried any home made formulations
stans is good and if i was paying for it, it would be the goo that i buy but as all the stuff i use to make is free.........
Where do you get your free glitter
i steal zoes:blush:
something to note with the glitter is that it will change the colour of the goo and every time you use the goo it has to be really well mixed up as is at all sits in the bottom of the jar.
well just pulled one of the tires off that i used my new mix on and have found that the glitter has stuck to the tire and would be no use if there was a hole or cut.
oh well back to the drawing board.......
also i have gone back to using rimskins, the ones on my hardtail have out lasted my DT kit. 18 months of only putting a wee bit of fresh goo in them once. and oh so cheap vs the dt kits. now if i could get the foam rim strips by them selfs it would be cheaper again.
That thread on MTBR is still going, with more info being added.
Latest bit of info that I thought was good is
Quote:
Try using mica instead of glitter. Mica was teh large glittery stuff used in paper products that Stan's used to use before they changed to the small coagulant that doesn't work quite as well. I'm sure it saves Stan's money, but if I have to add product to make their product work like it used to then I might as well make my own.
Mica is found in the paper making isle at any Michaels type store.
