Got harassed by the magpie that calls the trees just after the Mt Pleasant turn off home on the Summit Road on Sunday afternoon. Was really glad I'd read about this on the forum or wouldn't have known what was going on Now, how do I buy a shot gun?

Anybody actually been hurt by a magpie?
I get hit regularly this time of year, and while somewhat annoying the worst they've done is scratch my helmet.

My ex had a scratched face (luckily wearing sunglasses) and a nick out of his head (got him through the helmet!) from one around McLeans Island. And it was done by the magpie, not me!

Righty
Any reason not to carry a slug pistol in the camelbak?
The basdrats usually park up on a power line and gloat after 2-3 swoops so easy pickings.

Some people are just more sensitive to outside stimuli.
First time i got attacked I thought it was another cyclist taping my helmet.
Now days I look forward to magpie company for those long solo rides. Although a 2nd helmet is really a good idea.
Imagine what happens to a sensitive cyclist if he/she is suddenly struck by a few un-expected droplets of rain! Catastrophic

Been watching this corpse slowly desiccate for several weeks now. You'll spot it on the side of Chatterton's Rd as you head out past Orana Park.
