I am going, have booked my flights Satan

Ventoux will rule! Hell of an etape though. I cannot wait!

Having taken DH bikes overseas a few times, will I get away with a box for my roadie? Or will I be better off getting a soft-sided bag (with padding) like Topeak do? Don't r e a l l y want to splash out $500-ish on a hard shell case.

Will write a blog or some tihs to keep all informed of how I get on. Either that or regular, bran-based-cereal style updates on Vorb Smile

If you want to go with the soft-sided bag and you're in Chch you can borrow mine. It did a fine job for me in Europe this year. No damage to bike and packed with everything else imaginable I needed for riding it weighed 25kg. I took the biggest carry on bag I could get away with for everything else, carried that on the plane and it was mint. Big Grin

Thanks for the offer dude! I'm in Welly but would be more than willing to pay for you to send it up closer to the time, if you were OK with that.
Nice one!
