 |
|
Due to getting a flat tyre last night, I got to try out my Lezyne pump for the first time.
http://www.burkescycles.co.nz/product.asp?prodid=4018
Worked very well. Bit like the old bike pumps we used to have with the flexible hose adaptor. Means you don't need to try and wedge the wheel against something solid while you're pumping. Mine is the small (as per the above link) as it was all they had when I bought it, but would have preferred a medium. That said I still reckon I got close to 90ish PSI into the tyre.
Definitely recommend

I bought one of those a couple of months back when my old flash harry double action pump let me down again.
I like it a lot

Burkes Cycles lists the pumps rating 120 PSI, but Lezyne website (http://www.lezyne.com/AlloyDrive.htm) states 90 PSI!?
The flexible hose is very convenient as it gives you more leeway in movement while pumping. And it pumps tubes with Presta and Shrader valves.
However. I had a puncture on a ride fairly recently (details posted elsewhere at this site). The Lezyne pump could only pump up to around 40 PSI. I found it (nearly) impossible to pump any more air into the tube! Nowhere near the pumps' 90 PSI rating!?
Maybe the S model does a better job at pumping than the M model?
Anyway, I now only use the Lezyne pump for partially inflating tubes when installing tyres. I use a Topeak Speed MasterBlaster pump as my frame pump as it pumps to higher pressures (theoretically to 160 PSI, but I've had it to 60~70 PSI with more capacity in reserve) than the Lezyne pump. |
You might be get confuzzled between the pressure drive and the Alloy drive. The alloy drive is the fatter one, and is for predomintly moutainbikes. The pressure drive is smaller volume (skinnier) and for road bikes and higher pressures. You can use it on a MTB, but it will take a while to pump up.
