1. Welcome to the newest Clubs that have affiliated to MTBNZ. Whakatane Mountain Bike Club (Contact andy.high[at]opus.co.nz), Waipa Mountain Bike Club (Contact Brendan.Haigh[at]agresearch.co.nz), Te Aroha MTB Club Inc (Contact absolutebuilding[at]xtra.co.nz).

2. 2009 MTBNZ NZ Mountain Bike Cup entries will be online at www.bikenz.org.nz by mid November. Look out for the exciting new website to be up soon!

3. The new CEO of BikeNZ has been appointed and will start toward the end of November. Members of MTBNZ have met him and think that he will be an excellent addition to the current senior management team of BikeNZ. The Board will be making an official announcement soon.

4. SFRITO and MTBNZ have released the draft MTB Leader qualification syllabus, which can be reviewed on the SFRITO website. (www.sfrito.org.nz) SFRITO and MTBNZ are currently selecting candidates to sit on the MTB Technical Advisory Panel with SFRITO.

5. MTBNZ are putting together a National Trails Signage standard to be released in the new year. For more information or to participate iin the project, please contact Jeff jeff[at]southstaradventures.com.

6. Sustainable Trail design and build workshops can be run by MTBNZ for your club or organisation. Please contact us for further information.

7. Chris Mildon of MTBNZ Performance has released the Talent Development pathway documents for athletes wishing to be considered for selection for the 2009 World Championships. For more information, please contact Chris on chris.mildon[at]gmail.com. BikeNZ HP Director Mark Elliot has confirmed that BikeNZ will be supporting the iinvestment schedule attached to this development pathway, which is great news.

8. MTBNZ are running a national cross country and downhill junior development camp in Nelson, November 21-23, 2008. If your club has any athletes that would be interested in attending, please contact Chris Mildon chris.mildon[at]gmail.com.

9. Keep the 21-23 August free in your diary! MTBNZ will be holding the inaugural MTB Summit in Rotorua in conjunction with the MTB Marathon Championships and the MTBNZ AGM. There will be some great guest speakers, plenty of club development seminars and opportunities, and most of all....a chance to ride on the great Rotorua trails. Looking forward to seeing you there.

10. Did you know that Transit New Zealand have appointed a Walking and Cycling Champion for each region? Look them up! They are your cycle safety and access advocates and can help you get your cycling initiatives underway within local government circles. http://www.transit.govt.nz/planning/walking.jsp

11. And to finish...a bit of fantastic news on the performance front. Sam Blenkinsop had a huge win at the final round of the UCI World Cup DH race in Austria recently. The Wanganui teenager becomes the first New Zealander to win a World Cup title. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p59RhNhZzZY
