Pies are good - fish, meat, egg, it's all good in a pie
I have a foreign work mate who does not "understand" pies. It must be sad coming from a pie less culture

I like to think of mince as democratic meat: every bit of the animal gets to contribute.

Cheap to make = bad*. I remember "tuna fish pie" from when I was a kid. They are not happy memories. It was a concoction of leftover rice, tuna and cheese (back when cheese was cheaper and far less political).
*With the exception of my epic 1337 n@ch0z - 1 can chilli beans, 1 can creamed corn, 1 can chopped tomatos and boil that tihs and put it on corn chips or whatever.

trying to explain pies to a Canadian vegetarian friend was next to imposable. until I found out that midnight did passable vegetarian pies (not realy a pie with out meat).

Plenty of pies don't need pastry - cottage pie for one!!
Fish pie rocks - my kids love it, and theres always leftover for next days lunch. Yum Yum.
