well head on upto party central (ekatahuna ) and go to the local "the tin shed" (which is basically a tin shed with a liquor license - ) or be classy and go do some wine tasting in martinborough...
if i lived in wairarapa id prob buy myself a roadbike (mainly cos i've never heard of any mtb in that area - im relatively new to it)
just out of curiousity gizmoduck, do you ever jump your unicycle? whats the biggest you've done...?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I may have to come back in the weekends for some Welly riding though.
I'm trying to get back on to two wheels at the moment.
DropKick- I used to do 1 metre drops until I broke my ankle. Now I stick with 2-3 foot max (I want to have kids one day too). People like Kris Holm are doing 5-6ft drops and gapping over a meter onto all kinds of stuff. Tony Melton in Auckland does some pretty big jumps. It's good with a nice 3' Gazz or big DH tyre- very bouncy

Hey Gizmo, still keen for a ride. Sposed to be heading up that way in a few weeks and do that mikimiki one that Tama wrote up (nice article btw Tama ) so if you haven't done it by then, let me know. likely to be a weekend day.....time is open though, might make it a night ride. (bbrrrr!)
My helmet light only lasts an hour though but the bar light lasts 3 hours so hopefully the ride fits in there somewhere.....

Ok sounds good spg. You still have my hotmail?
I'll be bringing my bike up this weekend. I have plenty of spare SLR batteries too if that's what you are using .
Hi have a look on lambert cycles http://www.lambertcycles.co.nz/LCrides.php ( a bit out of date) mikimiki is good , also try mt kcid ( at the end of dalefiled road drive to the end - you could ride to the top to the lookout ( some of the locals ride there tuesday nights) - there is a track that runs down from the top for a while them back up to the top - on the other side of the river is a fair bit of riding also. if you like steep waiohine Gorge is another place to go. there is also a paper road out at Rangitumau - there is a little church out there on a corner - take the track to the left - gentle climb (like incline) you can go to the road ( reclose any gates that are closed) at the end turn right onto a gravel road - follow that up & continue allong a grass road it will lead to another road witch you could either turn around & come back the way you came or ride down the road back to the church. - drop us a line if you want to hook up with someone - Phil
