Going down there early next month to check out some new riding.
Anyone got any favorites to share - no more than an hours drive though.

That's coming down from Mt Greenland.
One of the best descents I've done for awhile.

Try the Kanere waterrace nice tech single track.Back of Hoki up the Blue Spur is the old nationals coesra that has had a bit of work lately good 4 a blast but bit short.Just oppsite the entree to the track is a whole set of new tech singletrack thats gr8 but all 2 b avoided if wet.Lots of tracks out back of Greymouth which r better in the wet.Half way between Grey and Hoki is the Goldsborough area which has some great forrestry roads worth exploring. That lot should keep u busy

Info about Hoki, and riding around there.
Not necessarily advice about moving there, that decision may already have been made....
Mind you any info would be appreciated I guess.

Some of us know that Hokitika is a great place to live and ride. Just don't come here expecting groomed trails like Rotorua, our tracks are a bit more natural.
There has been quite a bit of work done on developing tracks just out of town around the "Nationals" area (thanks to a few hard workers and Ground Effect).
The local mountainbike club has just set up a website, try www.westlandmtbclub.co.nz for some more info.
And if you want more details about the Coast checkout www.westcoastnz.com

I'm sort of looking for a loop/ circuit I can ride fairly regularly from Hoki without having to drive anywhere. Here in the Uk we either have groomed trails (purpose built like the Marin Trail) or bridleways that you share with horses, so more natural trails sound ideal*. I am aware there is a MTB club in Hoki, but not found their web page yet, so thanks for that.
Look forward to maybe seeing you on the trails. Thanks.
* And exploring is half the fun anyway.

Kanerie water race - it's mint - and can be done as circuit using road or do track both ways

Sweet. Once my dislocated collar bone has fixed itself (One last long ride in the UK too many) I'll give it a go. If I ask for directions in the bike shop in Hoki, and join the local club there as well will that cover me for access to local trails?
