Vorb musical/techo types, anyone had a play with the Korg Kaossilator and or Mini-Kp?
Opinions?

I am going to have a bit of a hands on demo during the weekend, and am interested in opinions from anyone that has had a play with them.

I have been kicking around an electronic theremin type device that uses a similar interface, an X/Y surface tied to predefined synthesizer guff. Instant 80's sci fi TV sounds. Oooooooh Quite enjoying it. I know Korg does a higher end touch surface that can be software mapped via midi, but those two units linked above look like fun little plug and go units with a lot less ca$h outlay.

Opinions? Experiences? Irrelevant faecal flinging?

{Posted via mobile.vorb.org.nz} Never used but looks fun. Pity they've only implemented 2-axis but; I'd like to see pressure sensitive giving 3rd variable (volume maybe)

Matt Bellamy from Muse has some guitars with the kaos pads installed in them, makes for some gnikcuf cool noises.

Another dinky option, the Nintendo-Ds/Korg Ds -10

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KORG_DS-10

The youtube demo's of it look pretty nifty. Double Thumbs Up

As for the 3 axis stuff - one of the theremin plug ins I have played with lets you do x-y and assign another value to the mouse wheel.

After a hands on, the question has gone from 'should I' to 'how many'. Smile

Pretty much instant turn it on - touch the pad - make musical things happen. Double Thumbs Up

Gonna need to stock up on some cables to run a bunch of different things through it.

Matt Bellamy also uses one of these: http://www.museresearch.com/receptor.php great alternative to guitar rig on a laptop, I love guitar rig btw, it gnikcuf rules, my lappie has a basic sound card but with ASIO4ALL I can get really low latency and it sounds great... will get a proper firewire interface at some stage but in the meantime its grouse Smile

In a not entirely related question, anyone know anything about recording directly to an Ipod?

I know you can get hardware plug ins to the data socket to take xlr mics or go direct off a mixer, but can you just whack a line in directly to the 3.5mm socket and press record?
